Gostynin s'étend sur 32 kilomètres carrés en Pologne centrale, associant architecture médiévale, développement urbain et environnements naturels.
L'établissement a débuté comme structure fortifiée slave au VIe siècle et a reçu sa charte municipale du Duc Siemowit IV en 1382.
