House and Chapel at Sítio de Santo António, Ferme coloniale et chapelle à São Roque, Brésil
La maison et la chapelle de Sítio de Santo António forment un ensemble de ferme coloniale avec des murs épais en terre compactée et des fondations en pierre contenant trois sections résidentielles séparées. Une chapelle se dresse sur le terrain comme partie intégrante du complexe.
La construction a commencé en 1640 quand Fernão Pais de Barros fit édifier la ferme, suivie par l'ajout de la chapelle en 1681 à la demande de son épouse. Cette expansion progressive montre comment le domaine s'est développé au fil des décennies.
La chapelle contient des retables en bois sculpté et des peintures au plafond qui témoignent du savoir-faire des artisans portugais venus s'installer dans la colonie.
La propriété s'étend sur environ 11,64 hectares et est gérée par IPHAN, avec des zones de forêt native et des lacs entourant les bâtiments. Les visiteurs devraient porter des chaussures confortables car l'exploration des vastes terrains implique de marcher dans différentes sections.
L'écrivain Mário de Andrade a acheté la propriété en 1944 et l'a ensuite cédée à IPHAN pour assurer sa protection. Ce lien entre une figure culturelle importante et ce site montre pourquoi les propriétés coloniales comme celle-ci comptent pour la préservation du patrimoine brésilien.
