Les collines Lomond comprennent deux sommets principaux, West Lomond atteignant 522 mètres et East Lomond s'élevant à 448 mètres.
Les habitants de l'Âge du Fer ont construit des fortifications sur les sommets d'East et West Lomond, laissant des traces archéologiques.
Le nom Lomond, enregistré comme Lomondys en 1315, dérive des mots pictes ou gaéliques signifiant colline balise ou colline nue.
Le parking de Craigmead constitue un point de départ pour plusieurs sentiers de randonnée traversant le terrain vallonné.
Les collines servaient de point méridien pour les cartes topographiques de Kinross et Fife jusqu'en 1891.
